The kitchen is the biggest change we have made to the house. We really opened up the floor plan by demoing some walls and added some support beams. We added a ton of semi-custom maple cabinets, installed an island with a five burner gas cooktop, added an in the wall oven and microwave and really beefed up counter space and storage all around. This open floorplan carried over into the dining area and even to a degree into the living room.

The light fixtures have been installed and the electrical trim out is about 90%…
with the trim work done and the bulk of the interior work taken care of it was time to put some color on the walls!
All the kitchen cabinets are in and set…we have a lot of trim work to do and we have to get the countertops going, but it looks great considering the significant challenges the not so square walls in the kitchen presented.
Time to hide all the structural support beams that run through the kitchen and common area. We found some nice Arkansas Pine (from Texas, no less) that will transition nicely with the Southern Yellow we are using on the wall in the kitchen area and in the ceiling in the entry way.
The base cabinets for the main part of the kitchen are set and we’ll hopefully hammer out the top cabinets in the next day or so…
